The School of Musketry

Recreation of the Hythe School of Musketry 1859

Attend the first courses on the use of the p53 Enfield in nearly 150 years. A condensed version of the Hythe School of Musketry course, covering the essentials of musketry principles, range estimation, position drill, and marksmanship. Students will become proficient at the use of the rifle-musket and obtain some of the essential skills that were vital to the professional soldier in the Victorian Era.

Musketry Through the Ages

 Matchlock to Mauser

Overview of firearms in military usage from the advent of gunpowder to the close of the 19th century. Students will be instructed in the principles of musketry as they pertain to smoothbore as well as rifled muskets, see the development and perfection of ammunition production, and will fire the matchlock, flintlock, various rifle-muskets, and close with the modern rifles introduced at the start of the 20th century.
